Even when prime Iowa farm land was renting for $40 per acre and corn was a buck 20 and beans were sub $3. And yes the smaller under capitalized farmers had to compete with the larger debt free competition.. Surely these fellows must know that they are in the best of times with low low interest rates and good commodity prices.

I bought land last January for nearly $5000 per acre because they wouldn't sell it too me for $4000. I would not blame a neighbor if he had bid $5500. Everyone has to determine how much is too much and what won't work for me may well work for you. That's just the nature of capitalism. We succeed or fail on our own merits and competition is usually tough. But I think if you blame others for your lack of success you are making excuses and probably never will rise above it.
