Central Virginia | I just read the whole thread. No one mentioned forming an LLC. If your dad could be convinced to have an LLC own the land and equipment you may be able to also insure you will own the farm upon his death. If you were only a 1% owner of the LLC, but the operating agreement stated that ownership is passed per capita, then you would own it when he dies. That would be something that is also not easy to change like a will. You have to be sure you want to put up with the abuse and that it won't eventually ruin your marriage though. Also consider if you want your kids exposed to his personality. Shoot me an email if you need someone to talk to about things before you contact a lawyer.
