southern MN | My wife comes home and complains about work for 2 hours. Not really great fun together time, but she needs to unwind.
She stays on overtime on a moments notice. We will plan her helping me with spring or fall field work, and they go on 60 hour work week and I don’t see her, at all, she is working or sleeping.
Just how it goes. It’s seasonal. Funny we both have about the same busy seasons..... dang it.
Farming/ ranching can grab a guy - or gal - a little harder than most careers. If you are good, you feel married to the living plants and critters in your care.
For a paycheck it’s maybe just a job.
But farming or ranching is never just a job.......
I really cherish that my wife has the dedication and honor and all to value her work, and want to do good at it and give it her best. It’s just a town job, but she wants to do her best at it. Sometimes I’m moved back in line a little for that, but you know that’s all right by me.
Wife does the same for me, spring and fall I’m not around so much either.
Don’t have any real advice, anything I ‘tell’ you just isn’t ever gonna sound right.
Life is what happens around the plans we make, I try to enjoy the life part when it shows up just as much as the plans.
