NE Kansas | You won't understand what I'm going to suggest for another 20 years or so. It's already been suggested, the harsh reality is it's your dad and uncles businesses and they're running it the way they see fit.
You need to take this time while you're young and beginning to build your life to build your business or career. Work hard at making it into something. 20 years from now you'll be glad you did it for you and your family.
The hired man is a steering wheel holder and a mechanic. That used to be what farming was all about, hard work, working with family, pride in gowing something and making a living doing it, simple enjoyable things that are very rewarding. It's easy to want that lifestyle, I did for many years.
But sadly those days of farming are coming to an end. It takes an entrepreneur with real business savvy and skill to run a successful small business. Learn those skills on your own and you'll be a much better farmer later.
