No land for sale near by? No rent auctions? Go farm for yourself - don't tell me you can't because if you want it bad enough you can..sacrifice/hard work/luck. If you don't want it bad enough find something you enjoy.
Yeah there is ground for sale in my area from time to time.... 12-14k will get it. Even in these depressed markets. Rent auctions are also here, as well as sealed bids. I have put in a few bids over the past couple years on rental ground.... none of them were even within $100/acre on the ground and if I would have gotten them I would have lost a good $100 an acre. Guys are still paying $500 on some dirt here. Can you explain to me how to make $500/acre cash rent work on 200 bu ground at the current corn prices? How about $400? How about $300? How is sacrifice/hard work (I suppose luck could) going to allow those rents to work with our current markets?
