Notice that there was a 'serpent' in the Garden of Eden who talked to Eve and seduced her...and brought forth Cain. The serpent was a near man that didn't have a soul [made in God's image]. The serpent perhaps was what we call pre-historical man. In the 3rd chapter of Genisis, the serpent was made a snake...because of what he had done.
