You guys that say he needs to call the other farmer who is the competition crack me up. If a farmer calls a new seed dealer and want to do business with him, do you expect the new dealer to call the old dealer and let him know? So then the current dealer is alerted to the situation and could possibly keep the farmer from changing dealers?

Rent the ground and have the landlord do the communication with the current renter.
