Rent it. If the current tenant has a problem he should have taken care of business before he lost it. I have done this with land an uncle farmed. I still go to his house for meals and he comes to mine, we don't talk about land lords or rent anymore though. If the current tenant is a good guy he knows why he is losing the land.
