Seems silly to work hard your whole life to give it all to the nursing home at the end. .
Did you have plans to take your assets with you when your time in up? I just don’t think that’s going to work. ****
Sure, you can view that as a waste. And I won’t argue health care costs are crazy and probably always will be. If I need that care I just don’t expect to be able to not pay for some/most/ as much as I can until my money runs out. If transfer of property/ assets to the next generation is a priority, well, then, make it a priority and get it done plenty ahead of the clawback time period. To many times I see people wanting to hold on to something but then scrabbling as their health deteriorates rapidly.
I think the transfer of assets just to qualify for assistance is just one piece of a broken healthcare system. Really see it taxing the system as the boomer population needs elder care. As usual any government changes will be backward looking instead of forward thinking.
