NW Washington | The state or county does not want to be stuck holding the bag for nursing home cost so they can get ornery if heirs try to impoverish someone to avoid paying the bill. They take all the persons income except a few dollars a month and if the person owns property it is either sold or a lien is put on it to pay the nursing home. If there is a surviving spouse they will not take the home.
So you better lawyer up before taking any action and she really needs to deal with a will and an estate plan. Look for a recommended lawyer that specializes in "elder" law. Good luck.
