NW Iowa | So you want to save the home and put the bill on the taxpayers. What happens in my neck of the woods is the bill is paid for by title 19, meaning the taxpayers. After the nursing home resident dies the government goes after the home and property to satisfy the debt. My dad has been in the nursing home two years and every month I write a check out of his account. The bill is big enough to choke a horse. If the bills eat up the assets he worked so hard for, and I don’t get any inheritance so be it. He will have paid his own bills instead of soaking the taxpayer. | |
