Near-north Ontario, French River | Balefire, have you ever attended the fire college at Gravenhurst? ( I think that's where its at) Our towns Chief is one of the instructors there, left a larger department to return to his hometown department. We've really benefited from his experience and expertise . What's nice about our department( for the record I'm not a member but know several that are) is that they run a professional ship from equipment and training right down to planning for the future( budgeting etc). They aren't afraid to buy large REFURBISHED apparatus, to get capability that would normally be way outside the budget of a municipality our size if they tried to buy new. Town council also supports the FD very well so its a win win for everyone, larger cities actually try to cherry pick our volunteers because they know the level of training they get. |
