sw ontario
With close to 40yrs. in hogs in Ontario I see F-F as only long term system here. There is always a market for good pigs-split pot loads with others, ect. Finishing barn contracts work for new barns if you find the right guy to fill them and are satisfied with working with hogs and don't want any wages for 10 years........and what will the hog market look like in 10 yrs. .......Brazil has some areas now eligible to ship pork to US in 2013.........with all regs. it takes a lot of paperwork........would never build just for manure value,I figure at best its a breakeven on that.........no matter what size its hard to be a "low cost producer" today..........long term I think buying a good used 300-500 sow F-F operation makes the most sense if you can find one
