Southwestern Minnesota | You are correct in that fructose is metabolized in the liver and does not require insulin to be used by the body. That is why fruit (juice) is a recommendation for treatment of low blood sugar. Here's a reference for that:

The glycemic index for fructose is lower than sucrose or glucose, making it a good choice for treating low blood sugar so that the spike in blood sugar is not so high.
Also the reference you note has this as it's last statement: "All sugars, including fructose, can be included in a health promoting diet if eaten in moderation."
But maybe they are wrong......
