Conan the Farmer,

In this situation, would Cargill-type finishing setups be allowed? If so, there are plenty of them here that have been sitting empty for decades.

If prices go up, I could see hogs in some of them again. I wouldn’t mind having a small hog operation if it could be profitable.

I don’t know of a crop that has ever “deconsolidated.” It would be a very interesting thing to experience a sudden demand for farmers to take up running hogs, if the market was to respond to a sudden shortage from a major change like this.

I am skeptical that actions such as this would actually save the small farms.
