Subject: RE: Abstract: What if there were no Hog Confinements?

Central iowa
Im guessing pork would turn into a delicacy a lot of the people that raise hogs would quit because of the extra labor.those that still raise hogs would only beable to raise a fraction of what they are currently raising and death loss would sky rocket can you imagine how many would be lost when its -30 out? First the price would sky rocket then the market will get saturated over time after every one decides they want to raise hogs again to make a quick buck and eventually most farms would have hogs on them again and the price will come back down but never as cheap as they once were just my 2 cents and yes i raise hogs in a confinment but have also raised higs outside
It would also make your corn and soybeans worth alot less i imagine it would probably hurt worse then the Tariffs there would be alot less mouths to feed

Edit:maybe the poster above me is right the rate of gain would be considerable less so maybe it would be better for the corn and bean markets because it would take alot more feed to get them to finish just depends how much the herd numbers would drop which would be huge at first i would belive
