I agree with your sentiment Indeep. America's wealth and most people's distance, both physically and generationally, from the places their food, materials, and possessions are grown, mined, and created has created a serious disconnect that results in unrealistic expectations or demands to those primary industries. Some elements of progressivism seem to be pretty regressive. This idea is not something currently proposed, but it is something that I could see coming along in light of what was released last week in the form of that green new deal. It's up their alley, they are already after the combustion engine by 2030 in that proposal, even though that would be impossible without causing a massive economic collapse and creating something that would make the French Yellow Jacket protests look like an ice cream social.
