| Science minded (and educated) mom here. With all due respect, the Discovery Channel is a fine place ... to start. But they don't have the definitive answers for you unless you are a person who believes wholeheartedly in the Theory of Evolution. For those of us who don't, The Bible is the best place for info. And it is always great to have places like answersingenesis.org for further study. Lots of (factual) books about subject like the fossil record, astronomy, etc.
