I was not 'bashing' religion just pointing out that since there is no evidence of any 'great flood' happening then it remains a story, a fictitious story.

If you just use a little critical thinking and stop to consider the math of how much water it would take to cover all the land on the earth you soon realize the story is just not able to be true.

Now before you claim that is 'bashing religion' by pointing out the facts you could try doing a little studying of history.
Look for flood myths and you will find stories in most if not all cultures about a great flood.
Many of those were recorded before the bible story and historians usually point to stories from Mesopotamia and the Babylonians as the original story that was carried on in the bible.

Even North American natives often had stories of a great flood.
Some thought all these stories indicated that a great flood did occur but often the time periods given for it differ in different regions.

There have been a couple of hypothesis put forth to explain the flood myth and one that has at least some evidence behind it is the rising sea levels when the ice melted at the end of the last ice age caused the Mediterranean to rise enough to flow into the Black Sea and cause the Black Sea to flood large areas that were inhabited by farming societies.
There is evidence of this flooding and dwellings and other signs of human habitation has been found deep under water in the Black Sea.
It is interesting that a connection has been found of these people, who would have been in the hundreds of thousands, forced to flee flooding which occurred over a relatively short time span spreading out into Europe and introducing their farming practices to the hunter gatherer societies that lived in Europe before that time.

History is a great story by itself without bothering with myths.
