Southwest Illinois | You named one who fit the "jerk" role you described. I can probably name 100 who are not that way. While I can name a few old timers who were hard nosed and maybe foul mouthed, I can't think of too many I would consider a jerk. I certainly don't like them all, but I certainly wouldn't make the blanket statement you did. When you look at the best coaches many of them were not the most talented but were students of the game and most are trying to give back and yes some push kids to be their best. I know several coaches and the one thing that they all say ticks them off the most is the kid who has a load of talent but never applies himself and misses out on what could have been. They have all been pissed, thrown some things and probably said some things they shouldn't have in the heat of the moment. Quite frankly I don't want my kid to play for some goody two shoes saint that you would probably want. | |
