Subject: GEO Thermal Heat ???....

Schlegel Farms, Hagerstown Indiana
.....for some of you guys that heat your homes with it. How low a temperature can you handle with out your back up heat coming on?

We have a five ton closed loop unit, submerged in a pond beside our home. I'm good down to 15-20 degrees on Geo only. Twenty degrees down to zero, Geo will keep the house at 67-68 without the electric strips (back up heat)....as long as we get back to 15-20 the next day we leave the auxl. off, house will be back to 70 within an hour of the sun coming up. I think I have had the electric on for maybe three or four hours this winter, usually just keep the circuit breakers off.

I realize our weather is different than some folks west and north of me (our low was last night at -1 so far this winter). I was just wondering how much cold you folks can handle on GEO only?
