Kagen,

My uber-capitalistic mind is down with the fact that I have less money/acre with lightweight corn, and that we can blame it on Mother Nature for shorting us. 

 In my mind, your calculation is a good way of recognizing loss/foregone revenue - especially if you need to convince your significant other you need a newer, shinier, wider planter so you can get done sooner!

 

As to the chain of causation, for myself I've settled on blaming those jerks in Canada, specifically the ones in Ontario who have been having the fantastic 40-day harvest season.  Who wants to hear about that?

Anyone else in C IL thinking of buying up these combine tracks that are for sale and finding a way to put them on your planter for the hat trick next spring?  lol
