You are correct in your calculation, reality is if you had the same volume of grain in your field but at a 56lb test weight you would have more yield and more product to sell, you can make lots of bushels per acre of low test weight corn but they would have been much more if test weight was normal or above. Thinking you have not lost yield because of low test weight is wrong. My best corn yields have always been with heavy corn, our growing enviorment will not allow for the large volumes that can be obtained in heartland corn growing areas, so test weight is very important in yield capacity, this year we are having a low test weight year and the combines that are running are reporting 90-125 bushel yields and south of us heard of 140-160 yields with better test weight.
