southern MN | I think people choose cheap food when given the actual choices. Many of necessity, even more because they want to spend their money on cell data plans and cool clothes and other stuff.
When asked about it they will unanimously say they want every farmer in the USA to look like the couple in the American Gothic picture, farm 40 or less acres with a hoe, and sell their produce on the corner of their street for 1930s prices.
The designer food they say they want would cost 300% more. They get all upset when food goes up 15%.
Trying to win that argument is a fools game.
There are a lot of sensible quiet folk that understand and I appreciate them; you are talking about the loud talkers that don’t listen or understand and don’t care to understand.
