Actually the vast majority of the American population could get by with a "golf cart" for their transportation from home to work everyday.
Most of the people, most of the time, is the biggest problem with modern engineering. I have a bike, and a cheap car. Between the two of those my truck hasn't been driven in nearly a year, but I still have the truck. On average I would probably get by just fine on a 100 mile range about 360 days a year, but I'm stuck the other 5. I believe Elon Musk is a genuinely talented engineer, who should stick with engineering spacecraft. |
