w1891 - 11/29/2022 07:09 How many non working bulbs have you found in new packages? Would seem like a big deal if it’s happening as often as you believe. Or perhaps you have old man disease and are remembering history how you thought it should be. Your experience is not what the rest of the US has found.

Haven't had that many that don't work out of the box, but their lifespan isn't even close to what it claimed.    Try to turn them in for warranty, "oh its not intended to be used for that".

My total cost (bulbs and power) for lights in hog barns EXPLODED upwards when CFL's and LED's were forced on us.

The bulbs cost ~16 times as much and last less than 1/2 as long as the old 100w incandescents did.       They don't save anywhere close to enough electric to pay for their replacement costs.   Yes, I've done the math before.

If I could go back in time, I would buy a cargo container of 100w incandescents for $.25/bulb.
