The direct subsidies you are referring to are the same tax deductions allowed for every other business in the tax code. Expensing vs depreciating just like ag does with section 179, depreciation of capital assets, etc.

You mention the cost of carbon released but what about the environmental cost of mining and refining the material required for so called green energy? And then there is the cost of disposing of batteries, solar panels, wind turbine blades, etc after their useful lifespan has passed. I have seen stacks of wind turbine blades in pastures because there is no where to dispose of them economically.
