Subject: New proposed livestock laws in Iowa

Central Iowa
Our wonderful lawmakers here are essentially trying shutdown the livestock industry in Iowa. A Senate file that happened to make it out onto the floor proposes local control over new hog buildings, and that existing operations could be shutdown if houses were built nearby. Whatever happened to people understanding that when they move to the country it is not the city anymore. If you don't want livestock near you than stay in town. All these people want to say that they are against corporate farms but they don't seem to understand that you cannot make a living on 40 acres anymore. I wonder where Burger King and McDonalds will get their "free range" meat from. I suppose it will come from the store like everything else.
