| I do understand your complaints of how your situation was handled, however I do not think that local control is the answer.
The way I understand the local control issue is that County Supervisors would be in charge of granting or denying building permits. The number of supervisors/county in Iowa varies from 3 to 5. These 3 or 5 people would have a huge amount of power to control the livelyhood of livestock farmers. Whose to say that they couldn't be bribed, the anti livestock crowd (HSUS and Peta) has a lot more money than most farmers do.
There are counties that have supervisors that would completely end construction of new livestock facilities. How would you expand if your son wanted to come back to the farm and raise hogs with you if your county wouldn't let you build? | |
