Callao, Missouri | Yes, fendtman if I had a family that would be something to consider. As of now, I am single and try to make it clear to my girlfriend that it's going to be a uphill battle for awhile. I figure that I need to be close to 1 million in gross sales by the time that I really start to make room for a family.
I don't believe that it's my RIGHT to farm, that's why I'm being so aggressive to secure land, livestock, capital, etc. I know the economic realities of the situation, and that is why I am so upset over our health ordinance. Existing operations can continue as nothing happened, but I am burderned by the "ideals" of my county leadership. Of course their ideals came cut and paste from another counties ordinance, with the exception of a few changes that they made to benefit their own operations (cow/calf). I can't help but wonder what our health ordinance would have looked like if the commissioners had hogs as well.......or if they had no livestock at all.
Dangerous stuff.
