SCIA | IIRC, the question,OP's, had to do with cutting expenses, but, I was questioned on my response. My thoughts are: If you have active air bags, unless you have HIGHLY variable soils or are strip till on highly rolling ground, you are doing fine. If you have NOTHING, it might be the best course of action to go the "whole nine yards", and go directly to active hydraulic DF, with electric drives.Or, as has been said, trade your non precision planter, for one with the precision goodies on it.
