Very much agree. After 35 years of selecting seed varieties, it has become an overwhelming task for me also. IT IS NOT SIMPLE ANYMORE. As for the Gulf's hypoxia, it may be a case similar to nitrate pollution that comes mostly from the over application from urbanites that think "a little is good, more is better." Last I read the largest point-source of nitrate contamination was urban areas.
