That's interesting. But I would have to agree. I think the main difference in todays hybrids are the ability to withstand higher population thus producing more yield. An ear of corn can only be so big. That in itself is a limiting factor. The only way to have more kernals in an acre of corn is to have more ears and maintain ear number and size.
