Northeast Nebraska | Just like taxes. Less people paying in, the % they collect keeps going up, more people want their hand in the handout pot, everything they try to spend money on is double the cost it should be, and the money goes to those that whine the loudest.
It's a broken system. Both the checkoff and the tax system.
Should we have to do our own educating of consumers? No, not if the checkoff functioned like it was intended. I don't think we can just sit back and expect things to change though. Animal rights groups have already done a good job of misinforming the general public, sitting back and expecting our checkoff program to step in and do something about it is a lost cause I'm afraid.
