The math is very simple. Total up the cow kill, figure in the poor dressing percent on a cow, subtract the white fat cows that end up at Ponderosa and Bonanza, and then compare this available supply with the amount of ground beef sold in the US. We ain't got near enough.
The reason cow prices are low is the supply of cull cows compared to the cow kill capacity. We don't kill enough cows to meet that lean trimming demand, but we are at capacity for the cow kills. Supply exceeds demand (kill demand, not meat demand) and prices fall.
You want to fix the problem? build a cow kill plant in one of the large void areas that need one. And then sell your lean trimmings to one of the fast food chains that does guarantee US beef - voluntary COOL is alive and well.

Sounds like a great plan-The ncba has enough money in there bank to build it free of charge-we already paid for it
