Northeast Nebraska
I've learned time and time again the best way to change someone's opinion isn't to belittle them, but use logic and proof.

The average cattleman can make a difference to his bottom line. Fighting the checkoff and big packers won't get you that far until the general public believe in the cause. Start by having a civil and educated discussion with a stranger. Or ask to go into a school to present to the students. Just do your research first. The argument that obviously this one is better than that one won't go very far.

Edit to add: I think there's a place for the checkoff. Finding a way to hold them accountable is the problem. Raising demand for beef is the #1 goal, but they should be doing so for the producers paying into the checkoff. Importers and packers agenda's shouldn't be supported by the checkoff, but separating the beef demand as a whole from the demand of U.S. beef is a rather difficult ballgame when you get corporations and politics involved.
