North of London
Oh I think there were more than 90% survivors.
I can introduce you to at least 3 people my age who survived it and are still walking and talking although with limps or in the case of one fellow who went to school with me an artificial leg.
Another with a definite limp farmed until recently when he retired to town but with a definite limp
A cousin also has a limp and in her case I know she went through multiple operations as a child to keep the leg growing to end with only a limp and the need to buy 2 pairs of shoes each time because one foot is several sizes smaller than the other.

Vaccines were what brought that disease to an end.
These while I was still in school where every child got the vaccine with boosters over several years but we stopped the devastation polio was causing to so many people.

There is no doubt that Covid is also leaving many people with life altering damage to many different organs. Lungs, heart, kidneys and brain
This in addition to the numbers who have died from it.
