Would you be ok with a statue honoring the pilots who bombed Pearl Harbor being on US soil? That is part of history.

No, And by your attempt to correlate our civil war to an unprovoked attack by another country shows the lack of historical education.

Actually the US was provoking the Japanese for quite a while in China, Vietnam and Thailand choking off their fuel supplies before Pearl Harbor.

As for slavery the majority of Southerners didn't own slaves any time around the 1860's. Also the Northern's enacted laws such as the Fugitive Slave Act ensuring those in the North would "properly" return a run away slave. Jim Crow laws were originally enacted in the Northern States well before the Civil war even began. The true historical "white wash" of the civil war is that the North was some kind of wonderful anti racist slave abolisher and the South were all blood thirsty red neck bigots. In truth the Southern Sates were sick of the heavy handed control the North had in the house of Rep's and usually the executive branch so they said the hell with it we are forming our own country. Lincolns answer was the hell with the Law and the Constitution and "we" are not going to let you. You can just as easily say he illegally invaded Southern US States with a military. He absolutely set aside many constitutional rights and did whatever he wanted when it came to Southern citizens and plenty of Northerners.

There are many parallels to today with East and West Coast States growing ever closer to totally controlling the Legislative and Executive branch and crushing everyone else to their will, Laws and Constitution be damned. Which begs the question, Is a Constitutional Republic designed to control such a large area of land and diversity of population?
