In the eyes of the Federal government in the 1860s the Confederates were rebels, separatists, and traitors. Events like the burning of Atlanta and General Sherman's destroying everything in the way with the March to the sea as punishment for the south.
The statues should have never been built as they were the losing side. of course they were seen as traitors. But our cositution also protects of if we think a federal government is over stepping. Nomore than the flunders were traitors. History repeats itsself just keep that in mind |
