Well, not technically, but do away with the assumption that just because a statue is there, it has to remain there for hundreds of years.
Somewhere, an artist and an eccentric philanthropist get together, and decide to put a statue of a pokemon character in a public park. 10 years later, public opinion might say that it's time to replace that statue. Elsewhere, a statue of George Washington might never be replaced.
