Old wives tale.

Edit to add:
You should watch the fuel guy fill the barrel some time. Fuel guy stops at neighbors and fill his red barrel, stops at our place a fills clear barrel, one hose on the fuel truck.

Asked the trucker filling the tanks at Casey's one day if they have different trucks to haul red fuel, his response was no. He did indicate that they tried to separate certain fuels by hauling a different fuel in between to minimize contamination, but it did not always work out that way. If one drop stuck around forever in the tank they would not be allowed to haul red and clear in the same compartment. When they deliver a tanker of red in the fall and the next tanker is clear, contamination must not be a huge deal; the tale is more of a scare tactic to keep guys from running red.
