Subject: RE: D.O.T. Fuel inspection for colored fuel .

North of London
Heard indirectly from fuel supplier of a farmer getting caught near me.
Supplier found out because as well as a fine they came to the supplier to find out how much coloured fuel he had purchased in the last ??how many years.
Apparently they then assessed the farmer for the tax on all that fuel and it was up to the farmer to prove how much he had used in off road machines.
Never heard how that worked out but I would assume he would never be able to show that he had used all of it in tractors so some of the tax would have been paid as well as the fine and then the headache of checking tractor hours, proving them and getting an acceptable fuel consumption.
The hassle would be more than just paying all the tax maybe.
