Princeton, Indiana | Think about it this way. A 7,000 head dairy has a need for specialized skills and at some point it probably makes perfect sense to hire a full time vet to manage herd health. A vet is not going to work for $35,000, a 1981 pickup and a side of beef if profits are good. He is going to get something north of $100,000.
A 15,000 acre grain farm also has needs for people with a specialized skill set. I am suggesting that a crop consultant/CDL driver/Agronomist/precision ag/data management person would add value much like the vet at the dairy. I am just pointing out that these people are out there and they can be hired at the right price and under the right conditions. | |
