East Tennessee | The John Smiths of the world are smart enough and ambitious enough to farm for themselves. A really good employee paid well will get a leg up and go on his own. No realistic amount of money will keep him. If they can't get farmland right away they can do spraying, harvesting, or trucking and this will expose their character and workmanship and if they stay with it and hold it together in due time will pick up a farm and another and there you go. Not everyone is this way, but I think the majority are in this part of the country. The risk taker life and image is what a lot of people want and there is nothing wrong with that- it is what made America. | |
