I read an article in Agri-View last week showing average wages for agriculture. This was in the 'crop' section (versus livestock or dairy) so I assume they are talking crop-making wages.
$33,000 was the average across the country. Average hours per week was 50. Average fringes was not much (mostly free beef and some housing, probably crappy). So, $33,000/50hrs a week/52 weeks a year is $12.69.
And you wonder how come people don't want to go into Ag? Who can live on this?
Don't know what I expect, just venting I guess!
