From what I've read, it depends on the area but overall, I don't think it is a common practice, less than 5% of total wheat acreage if I had to guess. I think it is more of a common practice in the northern states and Canada. It isn't common at all in Illinois. Maybe some guys from Canada or the Northern States can chime in.
