Iowa | I read it in the pamphlet that my relative received from the Cancer Center Treatment of America... I assume they got that information from actual studies. I certainly do not want that statistic to be true. From what I have read on the topic (and I've read quite a bit) Farmers have a much lower chance of lung cancer and liver cancer (because they don't smoke and drink at the same rate as the general public) but a higher chance for Lymphomas, Multiple myeloma, Leukemia, Skin Cancer, Brain Cancer, pancreatic cancer and prostate cancer. If you go to the National Institute of health you can type in farming and cancer and get all kinds of studies on the topic. In my personal experience, I have known quite a few farmers who have passed in their late 50's and early 60's.. too early to go, especially because they were generally in good health. | |
