he is essentially saying light animals need to be grown on a lower cost ration and placed in feedlots heavier so they spend less time on an expensive finishing ration. Pretty logical to what has been taking place because of economics. I like the comment on needing more cows so there are more available calves. Well guess what, that same high dollar corn and the guaranteed crop insurance took out a lot of pasture on marginal crop ground, so until corn comes down there is less acres to run those cows on. What feedlot doesn't think their should be more calves so they can get them cheaper and increase their margins.
