and not hide color and etc. Fact one: The US cow herd is declining in numbers thus making less available calves even with the highest calf crop prices in history. It is still declining. Fact two : US feedlot capacity is above the current calf crop production and has been for several years. Fact three: Corn surplus has decreased with increased demand by ethanol and world feed usage. Fact four: Poultry and swine are much more efficient converting grain into pounds of meat. Fact five: Beef is a ruminant animal that can convert roughage into meat, but not even as efficiently as sheep, but much more tasty. Fact six: the current feedlot industry is still designed to use cheap grain. Off to a meeting so can't post more now, but this is a good discussion if we stay on the original post. correct me if my facts are incorrect.
