As far as I can tell, the old line about prolapses etc is not really valid nor has it been for some time. I can't speak for the AHA. All of the breeds and their associations have had problems through the years. the Angus association has had some very noteable genetic problems recently. I do know my Herefords are NOT "frail" and certainly appear as stout as most black calves I have seen of the same age. All I am asking for is a level playing field, not one tilted by hide color. Jim PS here is a picture of a couple "frail" Hereford calves at about 10 mo of age. Their dams did not prolapse. There are frail, prolapsed, cattle of about any breed including Angus. My vet says he sees as many proloapses and eye problems in his own Angus herd as in any breed. All I am asking for is a level playing field where my cattle are not discounted JUST because they are not black.
